You are surfing for technical information and tumbling on this page will surprise you as much as I was surprised by the picture of a bikini girl in “The Journal of Chemical Engineering”. I believe that a little deviation relaxes the mind and improves the efficiency.
Tingle Soup for Sole
As a school boy I read a several stories about the Great Indian Emperor Akbar and his Wise & Witty Adviser Birbal.
King Akbar declared, “In this world, it is your child that you love the most; more than your self.” and Birbal differed as usual. To demonstrate his point, Birbal arranged for an experiment.
He procured a young female Simian with her baby and put them in a well like pit. The monkey was very caring and tried every thing to keep her baby comfortable. Birbal ordered his men to keep pouring water in the well. As the water came to chest level, the monkey carefully raised the baby to keep it dry and un-harmed. The water kept rising and the monkey ensured that the baby was well above the water level.
When the water came to the neck level, the monkey put her baby on her head. King Akbar was smiling but Birbal was un-fluttered.
The water level kept rising and it reached a little above the nose level of the monkey. The monkey made a few unsuccessful attempts to ward off the danger. Soon its modus changed. It put the baby down on the floor, stepped on it and felt relieved.
The story ended without any further comments but as school boys, we were supposed to understand the Silent Meaning.
As a boy, I was disturbed by this writing. I failed to understand as to how “Great Emperor” can indulge in such a cruel experiment and can Birbal be classed as wise. I really wished that there was something like “Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals” SPCA, though I lacked the ability to express that. To deviate a little more, SPCA is more interested in chasing film makers like the Aamir Khan and “That advertiser of Happy to Help dog “ rather than help the ….!! These “Friends of Animals” will not mind killing the “Dog” if it is not voting for their political party. All these were secondary points and the moral of the story follows.
My small mind, small that I was in those days, was not prepared to accept the moral of the story. I argued to myself:
- After all it is a story.
- Even here they are speaking about an animal.
- And what my parents and other parents proclaim so loudly, just can’t be wrong.
Experience teaches a man what he has never wanted to learn. Now I am an experienced man. Being fond of philosophical write-ups, I have read a number of stories.
- Every thing that can be said on wine and women has been narrated by Ghalib.
- Great souls like Mohammed and Marks and many others have dictated every thing on religion.
- Ample Chicken Soup for Soul flows from the “Twenty Three Tales of Tolstoy”.
- And if you are pure vegetarian, “In Search of the Supreme” by Mahatma Gandhi is a better version of “The Twenty Three Tales…”
One subject that is sparsely written or un-written is “Tingle Soup for Sole” where parents boil their children to make soup for their sole perverted pleasure. However odd it may sound but un-inhibited write up is what I am looking for. Do tell me about it on ajk@pcmenergy.com
