Hexamethyldisilazane or  Bis(trimethylsilyl)amine or HMDS is an organosilicon compound with the molecular formula [(CH3)3Si]2NH. Hexamethyldisilazane is used as a solvent in organic synthesis and organometallic chemistry. 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexamethyldisilazane is used in deactivation of chromatographic support materials. In electronic industry as an adhesion promoter for photoresists on silicon. It is also used in special organic synthesis, synthesis of antibiotics, anti-HIV drugs, blood-lipid lowering drug and so on. It can be used in industries as structure control agent in silicone rubber; surface treatment of diatomite, silica, titanium powder; bonding agent for etching machine in semiconductor industry.
