Oxidations of sulfur compounds using hydrogen peroxide are effectively conducted in TFE. In biology 2,2,2-Trifluoroethanol is used as a co-solvent in protein folding studies with NMR spectroscopy: this solvent can effectively solubilize both peptides and proteins.
